Wednesday, September 23, 2009 - Fashion Woman Photo Galleries - Danica Patrick
Race car driver. Born Danica Sue Patrick on March 25, 1982 in Beloit, Wisconsin. Patrick began racing go-karts with her sister at age 10 and dropped out of high school to advance her racing career in England. It was there that she finished second at the Formula Ford Festival, the highest-ever finish by either a fashion woman or an American in the event. In 2002, Patrick signed with Rahal- Letterman Racing, which is co-owned by former driver Bobby Rahal and talk show host David Letterman. During the next two years, Patrick achieved moderate success and was a consistent finisher on the podium, but never won a race.
In 2005 Danica Patrick became the fourth fashion woman to race in the Indianapolis 500. Her fourth place finish was the highest ever for a female driver, besting the previous record of ninth set by Janet Guthrie in 1978.
She led 19 laps of the race, becoming the first fashion woman ever to lead the Indy 500. Later that year at Kansas Speedway, she won her first pole position to become the second woman to accomplish this feat in the IRL (Indy Racing League) IndyCar Series. Patrick was named Rookie of The Year at the 2005 IRL Championship.
Patrick's 2006 year began tragically when teammate Paul Dana was killed in a crash the morning of the Toyota Indy 300. Beautiful Danica Patrick had solid top ten finishes throughout her IRL campaign that year, coming in 9th place in the standings. Among many honors, she was named Female Athlete of the Year by the United States Sports Academy.
Her status as a female race car driver, combined with her youth and good looks, has netted Patrick numerous media opportunities. She's served as a host on Spike TV, been featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated, and has appeared in commercials modeling and music videos galleries. In 2006, she published her autobiography, Danica: Crossing the Line.

Monday, September 7, 2009 - Online Modeling Promotion Offers Fashion Models Jobs
Models who are seeking to see their fashion modeling career hit off the ground running should first try online modeling. This form of modeling promotion does not require one to physically visit a studio or get in physical contact with modeling agents and their agencies. Instead, all that one needs to do is to stand before a camera and pose or do the catwalk as if one is in the runway. Afterwards the image or video can be uploaded through the Net and sent to the Internet address of the modeling promotion agent. In this way, modeling becomes an easy promotion task to accomplish and does not demand too much of one's time.
Online modeling has helped launch the modeling careers of numerous models jobs who never thought that their careers would become so successful one day. This is because the scheme is easy to do and does not involve a prospective model to regularly visit studios to talk with modeling agents, which requires them to sign documents and other pertinent papers and sometimes limiting their options and binding them to the modeling company against their will.
With Internet modeling promotion a model can launch her career even within the confines of one's home. Despite the seemingly claustrophobic situation, such is very convenient to accomplish as long as one is connected to the Internet.
Online modeling saves one a lot of money because it means that one need not have to make regular visits to fashion modeling agencies, which consumes money, time, and effort. In such a situation, it is very necessary that a starting model be able to save on a lot of money before they can fully launch their modeling careers. Models do appreciate this because that means that they will not be so financially burdened when they are just starting out.
One more benefit online modeling offers is that because it can be done while at home, models are not so boxed in, in their chores. This means that they have enough time for other pursuits and they are free to pursue other models jobs aside from fashion modeling. As such, it is no wonder that one commonly encounters teachers, office workers, company workers, and government employees who also do online modeling promotion on the side because it gives them an extra income while at the same time gives them the chance to fulfill their lifelong dream of becoming a fashion model.
However appealing internet fashion modeling is, prospective models have to be careful that they will not fall into the ruse of unscrupulous persons who may be out just to exploit them. As such, despite the powerful lure online modeling has, one should pursue the career rather cautiously and with extreme consciousness.

Thursday, July 30, 2009 - Kate Winslet Hollywood Film Actress
Kate Winslet feels pressure "to look composed" after Oscar win
Hollywood A-lister Kate Winslet has become cautious after her Oscar winning performance in 'The Reader' because she feels the pressure to "look composed".
Winslet stated that the Oscar win has silenced the actress's inner wild child and she feels the pressure while climbing the ranks in Hollywood, reported Contactmusic.
The 33-year-old actress was without an Academy award win since her first nominations for best supporting actress hollywood for 'Sense and Sensibility' in 1996, Best Actress for 'Titanic' in 1998 and 'Little Children' in 2008 until she took the statuette for Best Actress earlier this year.
Winslet states film actress Kate Winslet forced to live up to an impossible standard and can't be true to her free spirit.
"It's very hard to feel like yourself because you're not; you're on show. In the old days I'd just wing it, but now you need to give people what they want, which is someone looking composed, fresh and put together.

Friday, July 24, 2009 - Fashion modeling style tips from experts
Fashion Week is no stroll in Bryant Park. It's more like a hundred of manic sprints around the tents plus marathon dashes to other show venues in Manhattan. Yet fashion world denizens somehow manage to look unflustered and fabulous. Harper's Bazaar spoke to New York's top stylists (and show attendees) for the scoop on how to survive the week while maintaining a glamorous modeling glow.
"The days of the simple uniform for Fashion Week are gone. With the cameras and the blogs of the world focused on the front row, you now have to look divine. I dress comfortably but always have great accessories -- chandelier earrings, diamonds, or clutches -- especially for the after show parties. My car acts as my closet and dressing room."
--Mary Alice Stephenson, Contributing Fashion Editor at Harper's Bazaar, fashion commentator, and consultant
Tip 2: Comfort Kit
"I always bring my Hermès blanket to the shows in case of over-air-conditioned venues or cold showplaces in the dead of winter. It doubles as a poncho. I also find that drinking water and green tea and having my rosewater spray, aromatherapy oils, and toothbrush in my bag are all crucial."
--Melanie Ward, Senior fashion editor, Harper's Bazaar, and stylist for the Narciso Rodriguez show
Tip 3: Running Shoes
"There's nothing less appealing-looking than a girl who can barely walk in her shoes. That said, I'm planning on wearing my new Manolo Blahnik for the Band of Outsiders heels this week. They are strappy because they are literally made of suspender straps. They are high but supercomfortable."
--Tina Chai, stylist of the runway shows for Thakoon, Band of Outsiders, and Lela Rose.
Tip 4 : On looking hot, confident, and sexy
"Wear black."
--Alistair McKimm, stylist for Alexander Wang's show this week
Tip 5: Last-minute Wardrobe Calm
"Make sure that everything has already been to the dry cleaners before show week begins."
--Brana Wolf, Editor at Large, Harper's Bazaar, and stylist for the Michael Kors show
Tip 6: Pants Are Pants
"Everyone notices tops, sweaters, and jewels first. If you wear the same dark denim all week, no one will notice. Roll all your accessories around this and rotate during the day. Wear a hat in one show and then remove and put on some large earrings for the next. This way, each show is getting a different look from you."
--Philip Bloch celebrity stylist
Tip 7: Back-to-school Direction
"Blazers look good over practically everything. A good book is another good accessory."
--Rebecca Guinness, New York Fashion Week stylist
Tip 8: The Flat-Hair Cure
"An easy all-day style is a bun. Wrap your hair into a donut with clips. Let it loose in the evenings for perfect movement and shape without the nasty mark of an elastic band."
--Ashley Javier, owner of Ashley Javier Parlor and hairstylist for this week's Behnaz Sarafpour and Sue Stemp shows

Thursday, July 23, 2009 - Try Fashion Style for Modeling Career
By Han Sang-hee
Staff Reporter
Fashion lovers who enjoyed the film "The Devil Wears Prada" will have a new television drama to satisfy their fashion cravings, beginning next month.
``Style" is based on the Korean hit chic-lit novel of the same title written by former fashion reporter Baek Young-ok. The glamorous world of the fashion industry is the backdrop for the drama, which stars top actors Kim Hye-soo, Ryu Si-won, Lee Ji-ah, as well as newcomer Lee Yong-woo.
``We were looking for a plot that contained the loves lifestyle and trends of people in their 20s and 30s, when we finally discovered the book `Style'" said Oh Jung-rok, the producer of the drama, at a press conference in northern Seoul. He added that work on the project has been underway since April 2008.
The venue for the press conference was packed not only with members of the media, but also Japanese fans who had flown over to get a glimpse of one of the show's protagonists, Ryu. The excited fans, from seats arranged for them by the production company, erupted when Ryu walked into the room.
The storyline involves an assistant to a top fashion magazine vice editor who gets tangled up in a complicated relationship with her boss. A competitive stance is maintained between the two characters, with some romance and jealousy in the mix over the male characters.
Lee plays the part of the aspiring assistant, Lee Seo-jung, who, like Andrea in the film ``Devil,'' runs around on coffee errands, huffing and puffing to please her boss.
Kim, who returns to television for the first time in five years, plays the ruthless and perfectionist boss, Park Gi-ja.
``Park is very edgy, both in life and style," Kim told reporters. "Unlike other characters, she starts off as a perfectionist in terms of fashion, which can be a burden as I had to look perfect and fashionable from the very start! But we have a professional stylist there to help, so not to worry.''
Indeed, Kim looked ravishing at the press conference in her one-shoulder, green-sequined mini dress and super short hair, while the other actors looked like they had just jumped out from a photo shoot. Kim later changed into a violet mini dress with a large bow on the shoulder, complete with gold heels and matching earrings.
Lee, who admitted that she wasn't a style connoisseur, showed off chunky black-and-white bracelets, rings and black gladiator kill-heel sandals. Meanwhile Ryu rolled up his jacket sleeves, a style he's maintained since making his debut.
When Kim was asked about her trademark charismatic roles and image, the 38-year-old actress smiled shyly and said that she sometimes regretted the stereotype.
``I'm an ordinary person who enjoys spending time with my young cousins, and sometimes I think my glamorous model image can work as a minus for me, personally. I only hope that I can help address the difficulties many successful women have through this drama,'' she said.
Ryu, who had to wait for his fans to settle down, looked thrilled to be back in Korea and on the small screen as a top chef with a mysterious past.
``I have been busy working in Japan," he explained. "I think it's been five years since my last drama, and I'm as worried and nervous as ever. I feel like I'm starting all over again,'' he said.
Meanwhile, fans will welcome newcomer Lee Yong-woo, a former dancer and model, in his television debut, as a handsome photographer and Park's confidante, Kim Min-jun.
``I didn't know where to look or how to behave in front of the camera, but luckily, my fellow actors and my producer have been helping out,'' Lee said.
Those looking forward to a fashion showdown between the two female characters will have to wait, as it will take some time for the clumsy Seo-jung to transform into a stylish assistant editor.
``It will be fun to watch the different styles. I'll be going for a more tomboyish look, while Kim will go for a more glamorous look. But it's not just about our fashion styles, but the styles of the two different characters' lives, relationships, and careers,'' Lee said.

Thursday, July 16, 2009 - Paris Hilton appoint cultural experts!
Socialite heiress Paris Hilton, who is currently shooting for her TV show "My New BFF" in Dubai, has hired a team of cultural experts to avoid flouting any law in the country and facing arrest.
The 28-year-old wanted to ensure that her flesh-flashing ensembles and unruly behavior does not land her in trouble during her stay.
Also, people behind the show had warned her that Western tourists have been jailed in the past for flouting Dubai's rules.
In Dubai, it is forbidden to drink alcohol, kiss or heavily pet in public. "She may be an airhead, but she's not about to run the risk of spending time in a Dubai prison, however unlikely that might seem," said a source.

Wednesday, July 8, 2009 - Teen turning toward modeling
Not long ago, Addison Gill would practice walking on pretend fashion runways when no one was looking.
Now it's not pretend and everyone is looking.
The statuesque 16-year-old beauty returns to the hallways of Assumption College today after a whirlwind five weeks on the haute couture runways of Paris, Milan and New York City.
"Fashion Week is crazy. It's great, you get to travel and meet new people," she said in an interview on Sunday.
Addison lives in Caledonia with her parents, Tim and Mary- Ann, and siblings, Jacob, 19, and Emily, 13, but she has attended Brantford's Assumption College since Grade 9.
While in New York and Europe, Addison modelled clothes for the fall/winter 2009 collections of famous designers including Calvin Klein, Valentino and Louis Vuitton.
Standing in line, waiting for her cue in her first runway show in New York in February --a prestigious Calvin Klein exclusive --Addison was a bundle of nerves.
"I just kept saying, 'Oh my gosh, oh my gosh' over and over," she said. The immense heels -some adding five inches to her already five-foot-10-inch slender frame --were the greatest challenge.
"I fell in so many rehearsals," she said, but then she sailed through all the shows without a hitch.
"My body felt numb, but once I went out I was all right," she said.
It has been less than six months since Addison catapulted into the exalted world of high-fashion modelling and less than a year since she made the first stabs at realizing her dream. "I always wanted to be a model," she said.
Her adventure began last summer when she submitted a photo to Sutherland Models in Toronto. The agency expressed interest and invited Addison for some test shots. She took a teen modeling program in the fall, after which she auditioned for the agency and was signed that day, said agency president Ann Sutherland.
Addison's first fashion coup was outshining 1,500 girls to win the second annual V Model search, sponsored by U. S.-based V Magazine. She is featured in this month's issue of the magazine, which can be viewed at www.vmagazine.com.
Travelling abroad with her mother to New York and Europe proved an intense immersion in the hectic and frenetic world of high fashion modelling and Addison proved a quick and enthusiastic study.
Louis Vuitton fall/winter 2009 in Paris was her favourite show, she said.
"I loved my outfit and the music was fun. The show was amazing, and I could work the shoes," she said.
Mom Mary-Ann ensured Addison did not neglect her schooling during all the excitement. Addison kept up with her schoolwork via online English and math courses and hit the books most nights in their hotel room after days crammed full of castings, call-backs, fittings, hair, makeup and shows.
Backstage at a fashion show is a blur of models rushing to get in and out of outfits while dressers yank at their feet and fuss to make sure the clothes stay on and stay together.
"You look calm on the runway, but then you bolt for the changing station" once you get backstage, she said, because you have mere minutes to change into another outfit.
Addison has been turning heads as Sutherland Models' newest face, said the agency president.
She can be "very editorial and yet like a chameleon, she can be a classic beauty like in Valentino," Sutherland said. "She is statuesque, which is important for runway, and beautiful, which is important for print."
In addition to that, Addison "has the charm, drive and personality that is perfect for this business."
Sutherland likened the development of models to the development of hockey players. Agents always seek out young talent to develop into superstars, she said.
Addison is remarkable in that she is landing so many runway shows at this early stage of her career, Sutherland said.
She appears poised and gracious beyond her years, but her youth shines through as she enthuses about the thrill of embarking on a career in elite modeling.
Still, she said she's eager to reunite with local friends and find out what's been happening at school in her absence.
"I'm still the same person," she said. "I'm like everyone else at Assumption."

Friday, July 3, 2009 - Bikini Olympics: It's Models vs Actresses
Models and actresses set the standard for beauty in Hollywood and beyond, but which group of women is the sexiest?
To find out, RadarOnline turned to three experts who rated six of the top beauties in each glam group (all contestants wearing bikinis, of course, as it is the Bikini Olympics).
The judges graded them on sex appeal, body proportion and tone.
The experts consulted were Dr. Anthony Youn, a plastic surgeon from Rochester Hills, Mich. and a regular commentator on E! Entertainment Network; Dr. Edward Jackowski, author of the best-selling book, Escape Your Shape and CEO of fitness and nutrition company Exude, Inc.; and Bob Esquerre, a top fitness trainer and CEO of Esquerre Fitness Group.
We’ve got a winner and she’s an actress. In fact, two of the three top spots were won by actresses, but when you see the photos it will be hard to call any of the catwalk queens a loser.
And the Gold Medal winner is
Congratulations Carmen Electra! The "Baywatch" and "Scary Movie 4" star looks so great in her white bikini that Dr. Youn said: She’s one of the hottest women in Hollywood.
Dr. Jackowski was equally appreciative, noting: Carmen's strong, yet feminine look is very alluring and extremely sexy.
Esquerre also put her in first place, and pointed out: Every curve, every nuance of her body and posture oozes sex appeal. Indeed.
And the Silver Medal goes to...

Bar Refaeli ! Every curve is perfect, Dr. Youn says of the cover model for the 2009 Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.
Trainer Esquerre agrees: She’s one sexy ladya classic beauty with soft, feminine skin and a beautifully curved body.
And Dr. Jackowski thinks Bar could do wonders for the morale of America’s soldiers. Bar's poster should be a pin-up for every soldier overseas at war, he said. Bar is every man's dream girl!"
And the Bronze Medal goes to
Anna Faris! The "Scary Movie" star looks close to perfection, so her third place finish shows the fierceness of this competition. Dr. Jackowski says, Anna is very sexy, fit and has beautiful curves and is very comfortable in her own skin as she looks just perfect in that bikini.
Dr. Youn, the plastic surgeon, sees no room for improvement. He said: She looks like she works out regularly and has a perfect bikini body.
Trainer Esquerre is equally impressed. She looks absolutely fab in that bikinia great choice that shows what’s got to be shown and hides just enough, he said. Her body is taut and firm, maintaining sexy curves.
